Teeth Whitening is the process of making your teeth ‘whiter’ by removing stains and discolouration. Regular appointments with our hygienist can help to prevent staining on your teeth but if you have already sustained some discolouration, we can offer home whitening treatments.
We are dedicated to ensuring that any products we use or endorse are completely safe for our patients so the home whitening system that we use is provided by Whitewash Laboratories who are leading teeth whitening and oral care manufacturers whose products are developed and formulated by leading UK dentists.
We have had great feedback about this product; Eileen Coffey from Cheshire East said:
“I would highly recommend tooth whitening with Smile Spa. The procedure was quick and painless and I was assured by my dentist that it was completely safe unlike some other products out there. The whitening tray that was made especially for me came in an attractive carry case and I saw immediate results after an hour that have been long- lasting. The four syringes of whitening gel will last me for a very long time!”
If you are not suitable for whitening or would just rather an alternative, visiting the Hygienist regularly can help to remove staining and discolouration. The hygienist can perform deep clean treatments and stain removal and also give advice on how to help prevent further staining. Visit our Practice Plan page for information on how to spread the cost of regular hygiene visits.
Some people are not suitable for teeth whitening. The dentist will assess your suitability during a consultation.
If you have gum disease or other dental health problems, you may not be suitable.
A teeth-whitening process will not change colour of crowns, veneers or fillings. These may need to be changed to suit the colour of your teeth.
It depends on both the individual and the type of whitening system used.
Some people respond very well to teeth whitening and have dramatically whiter teeth as a result, whereas others may notice very little difference at all.
Heavily stained yellow teeth tend to have much more dramatic results than those with slightly discoloured teeth. A dentist will be able to advise you on the likely results following a consultation.
Although some people experience no pain or sensitivity with their teeth, the majority of people will experience some kind of sensitivity either during and/or after the initial treatment. This is described as sporadic, sharp shooting pains coming from their teeth. However, this should disappear after 48 hours. You should avoid hot or cold food and drinks within this period.
We provide a special serum, again provided by Whitewash Laboratories, that is specifically designed to relieve sensitivity and works immediately.
